VEX GO Ocean Science Exploration

In 2016, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute launched an underwater mission using the ROV Doc Ricketts, exploring volcanic sites off the Oregon and Washington coastlines. Drawing inspiration from this expedition, our Spring Camp invites kids to dive into STEM learning by simulating ROV missions and building robots, exploring the mysteries of the deep sea.

Day&Topic

In 2016, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) embarked on an underwater exploration journey. A Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) named Doc Ricketts navigated the coasts of Oregon and Washington over three weeks. Its mission was not only to map the fissure zones but also to collect samples of underwater volcanic lava flows, analyze the composition of these samples, and explore the impact on the underwater ecosystems of these regions. 🌋🌊

Inspired by this real-life adventure, our Spring Camp will offer children a hands-on experience, simulating some of the tasks completed by the ROV. They will build robots and draw from the sea exploration to enrich their STEM knowledge. 🚀🧠
